Construction & Industrial Project Manager (411-291)

This position exists to provide oversight and support to Verso's enterprise wide construction activities while insuring adherence to Verso's contractor management practices. They also ensure projects are completed in accordance with Verso's Engineering and Construction Principles as well as facilitate the use of manufacturing and construction industry best practices in the management, design and implementation of Verso's projects.
Key Accountabilities:
Maintains the Contractor Management Practices portion of the Blue Book (contains Verso's Best Practices and Procedures regarding Capital, Engineering & Construction) and drives the continuous improvement process to ensure they remain the best practice.
Owns the efficiency of our construction project/outage (Large Asset, Annual and Paper Machine outages) planning and execution processes.
Facilitates the development and execution of VPOPER outage preparation readiness reviews as necessary
Development and continuous support of corporate strategic construction partners as Verso utilizes them to complete construction related outages or projects.
Development, deployment and communication of an effective construction process. It will be clearly understood by all stakeholders.
Work with maintenance / capital project sponsors and mill stakeholders to complete a project charter which out-line scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timing.
Support the timely procurement of construction services; including but not limited to detailed scope development, RFQ development and contractor awards.
Coordinates major contractor resources and the interfaces with Verso stakeholders
Manage the cost and control monitoring process during execution of larger projects to assure early recognition of any major deviations or problems while keeping project sponsors informed.
Support the coordination and management of complex resources. Large projects typically involve outside engineering, vendors, specialists, contractors, government bodies (safety, environmental, etc.), alongside internal employees. Clear communication and project management protocols are to be followed to mitigate any impact to the project cost and scheduled start up.
Establish positive working relationships with individuals within and outside the company.
Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and insure over time that construction teams and Verso coordinators focus on these indicators.
Assist in the selection of qualified contractors and their management.
Support the facility engineering and maintenance/reliability resources in the execution of capital and repair projects by providing expertise on construction activities.
Supports the current year capital plan execution by working with the COE Capital Manager, COE Engineering Manager and facility Capital teams.
Collaborate with Verso Reliability, Sourcing and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Center of Excellence (COE) groups to drive continuous improvements in those functional areas is it relates to Construction Services.

Key Challenges:
The variable nature of the current paper industry drives a variable capital and repair plan and the candidate must be able to quickly respond to new construction spend targets and priorities.
Continuous improvement of contractor management and outage planning practices while directing and coaching team members on these practices.

Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or 10+ years of project/construction management experience required.
Required Experience
Experience should include major construction project management in an industrial setting. Pulp and paper construction work experience a plus.
Strong knowledge of construction safety, quality programs, estimating and scheduling of construction activities.
Knowledge and experience utilizing various project management platforms / tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera or other.
Strong knowledge of Construction Project Controls and Cost reporting
Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in project plans and priorities.
Effectively managing time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
Use of appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive team.
Ability to elicit cooperation from senior management and other departments.
Skills for position include; Developing Budgets, Project Management, Tracking Budget Expenditures, Managing Standards, and leading construction/project teams.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
